Samuel Boundy

Cello

Samuel holds a BM from the University of Minnesota Twin Cities, studied cello with Tanya Remenikova; MM Eastman School of Music, studied with Steven Doane and Rosemary Elliott, serving as studio Teaching Assistant. Now based in Boston, Sam maintains an active orchestral career throughout the area. He is a member of the cello section of the Vermont Symphony Orchestra and the New Bedford Symphony Orchestra, and performs with the Albany, Hartford, Portland, and Syracuse symphonies, as well as the Cayuga Chamber Orchestra. As a former member of The Orchestra Now (TŌN), he performed at Nuremberg’s Congress Hall and served as principal cellist at Carnegie Hall, Jazz at Lincoln Center, and the Metropolitan Museum of Art. His solos are featured on the albums The Lost Generation and Transcription and Translation, as well as the premiere recording of Bright Sheng’s Let Fly with violinist Gil Shaham. Additionally, Sam can be heard on the Grammy-winning Deutsche Grammophon soundtrack for the 2023 motion picture Maestro, in which he appears on-screen in the Tanglewood and party scenes. Outside of music, he enjoys rock climbing, finding it both a physical and mental puzzle.
