Kathleen (Kate) Anderson comes with a wealth of experience in music performance and education in the state of Connecticut. Currently, Anderson is the Director of Music at Tourtellotte Memorial High School in Thompson, where she conducts three performing ensembles and teaches classes in piano, guitar, music technology, and music theory. With thirty years of violin performance experience, Anderson was a member of the University of Connecticut Orchestra studying directly under Dr. Theodore Arm and Peter Sacco and has recently worked with the newly formed Northeast Connecticut Community Orchestra in Ashford under the direction of Yaroslav Tereshchenko. Anderson recently completed her Master’s degree from the Univesity of Saint Joseph – Master’s of Arts in Education: Multiple Intelligences through the Arts, Summa Cum Laude. Kate resides in Putnam, CT with her husband Rob and two children Greyson & Melodie.  

Favorite Composer:Beethoven

Favorite Musical Memory:Performing the opera “Carmen” under the direction of Victor Borge while studying at UCONN.

Who/What Inspired You to Take Up Your Instrument:While I was in the second grade, my music teacher showcased the various stringed instruments, and the second he pulled the violin’s bow across the strings I was hooked and NEEDED to get my hands on that magical instrument! I have not put it down since!

Hidden Talent(s):I love climbing/hiking mountains! I have just completed the AMC’s 48 4,000 footers list in New Hampshire…which means I have hiked/climbed 48 mountains with a height of 4,000 feet or higher! I am also a certified yoga & mindfulness instructor
