Grace Coolidge

Assistant Concertmaster

Violinist Grace Coolidge holds a Bachelor of Music from the Mannes School of Music and has

studied with Sally Thomas, Stephan Tieszen, and Violaine Melançon. She has also worked with

chamber music coaches such as Colin Carr, Todd and Daniel Phillips, Mischa Amory, Rebecca

Fischer, and Kikuei Ikeda; and has served as teaching assistant to Sally Thomas at the

Meadowmount School of Music. 

An avid orchestral and chamber musician, she now performs with various ensembles of various

sizes in Connecticut and New York City, including Eastern Connecticut Symphony and Trio

ARAM, a violin-clarinet-piano trio that has premiered new works at the Consulate General of

Bulgaria and Carnegie Hall’s Weill Recital Hall. Grace also enjoys branching out into other

genres and sometimes performs and records for jazz and indie rock groups. She currently lives in

Branford, where she swims at every chance she gets.

Who/what inspired you to take up your instrument: When I was five, my parents asked if I’d

rather learn violin or piano. I picked violin and never stopped!
