Kian Hirayama

Kian Hirayama is the Principal Oboe for the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra and is an active performer across New England. Based in Boston, he has performed with many local groups including the Boston Chamber Symphony, MassOpera, The Du Bois Orchestra, the Horizon Ensemble, and has been hired by the Berklee College of Music for numerous recording sessions. He has also been invited as a Guest Artist to the Saarburg Serenaden in Saarburg, Germany where he acted as both a featured performer and teacher for multiple summers.
Kian received his M.M. in Oboe Performance from the New England Conservatory studying with Keisuke Wakao. He earned his B.M. from the Boston Conservatory at Berklee studying with Amanda Hardy, where he was the recipient of a full artistic scholarship. He has performed in masterclasses and worked with many other prominent oboists including John Ferrillo, Mark McEwan, Frank Rosenwein, Jeffrey Rathbun, Titus Underwood, and Anne Marie Gabriel.
