Courtney Coates bio: Courtney Coates is a graduate of Stonybrook University with a Bachelor of Science in Business Management. Courtney has previously been the Program Coordinator and Director of Administrative Partnerships for the Eastern CT Chamber of Commerce, as well as a Development and Office Administrator for Sofia Sees Hope in Ledyard CT. Currently, Courtney is the treasurer for the Union Baptist Church in Mystic, CT and the Director of Outreach and Development at Hope in Focus in Ledyard, CT where she is responsible for outreach to the Leber congenital amaurosis and inherited retinal disease community, development activities including grants and donor management, and overall office management and administration.

Caleb Bailey received a Bachelor of Arts at the University of Nebraska-Lincoln (Communication Studies) in 2010. In August of 2010 he began working with Lincoln’s Symphony Orchestra as Orchestra Manager. In this capacity, he acted as personnel manager, operations manager, and music librarian.

Mr. Bailey completed the League of American Orchestras’ Essentials of Orchestra Management program in February 2013. Additionally, he served as an Orchestra Manager with the Aspen Music Festival and School (Aspen Festival Orchestra) during the summer of 2013. In January of 2014, Bailey was one of seven participants selected for the League of American Orchestras’ inaugural class of the Emerging Leaders Program, a two-year program that offered in-depth personal leadership training. He also participated in the Chamber of Commerce of Eastern Connecticut’s Leadership Program, graduating in 2019.

In July of 2015, Bailey began work as Executive Director with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra in New London, Connecticut. His first season with ECSO featured many new initiatives, including chamber music outreach in the community and new partnerships with area non-profits. His efforts, along with the ECSO staff, Board, and musicians have yielded audience growth, increased contributed income, and more robust education offerings in our region. In other community capacities, he serves as a Board member on the Southeastern Connecticut Cultural Coalition and is a past Board member of the Rotary Club of New London and Fiddleheads Food Co-op. He enjoys playing guitar, writing music, running, cooking, and taking sailing lessons with his wife, Sara.

Emma Bocciarelli is a 2023 graduate from the University of Connecticut with Bachelor degrees in Business Management and Piano Performance. She immensely enjoyed her piano studies with Dr. Angelina Gadeliya. Emma was a recipient of the EB Storrs Piano Scholarship and performed in masterclasses with Renana Gutman, Vladimir Valjarevic, Yoshi Akimoto, Yi-heng Yang, and the Takacs Quartet.

In spring of 2023, Emma completed an internship at The Bushnell Performing Arts Center in Hartford, CT,  with a focus in marketing and customer relations. She is the music director at Putnam Congregational Church, assistant director for the Eastern CT Performing Arts Association Community Voices as well as pianist for the Shoreline Chorale and the Tim Fiorvanti Jazz Orchestra. Emma joined the Eastern CT Symphony Orchestra staff in the Fall of 2023 as Executive Coordinator.

Emma continues to perform, collaborate, and teach while traveling and enjoying time with family, friends, and her three dogs.

John Biatowas, violist, has grown up playing violin and viola throughout Connecticut and the surrounding states. He received his BA in molecular biology from Colgate University and Performers’ Certificate in viola and MM in violin performance from the University of Connecticut. John has sat concertmaster of the Colgate and UConn Orchestras, as well as principal viola at UConn. He teaches privately and is a founding member of the Arioso Ensemble. John serves as orchestra librarian, personnel manager, and section violist with the Eastern Connecticut Symphony Orchestra, and has also performed with the New Britain and Wallingford Symphonies and the Hartford Festival Orchestra. He teaches chamber music at Wesleyan with his fellow quartet members. His teachers include Theodore Arm, Laura Klugherz, and Phoebe Barron.
